Community Development is a multi-disciplinary department providing a range of planning and development services to citizens, appointed boards, and commissions.  Our Department ensures that all development is consistent with State Law, Building Codes, the General Plan and Development Code. We work together to protect life and property, while improving quality of life and the environment.

 
What's New 
  • Sac Metro Fire District (SMFD) Considers County’s Electronic Submission of Improvement Plan System – This collaboration will make the improvement plan review process easier for customers by saving them vehicle trips and accelerating the review and approval. Once on-board, SMFD customers can choose to submit digital or paper plans. Learn about ESIPS. 

  • New Office Hours and Availability of WiFi - Starting November 9, 2012 the Community Development Department Permit Centers at 827 7th Street and at 4101 Branch Center Road will have new office hours, 5 days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Also, WiFi will be available on first, second, and third floors of 827 7th St.
